My friend recently got a 500e and noticed it only has four speakers, there are no rear speakers at all, which should be! Can anyone tell me if it's possible to add them?

It’s not about dissatisfaction, just surprising there are no rear speakers. Adding them could improve sound balance for passengers, so I am just exploring if it’s an option.

Adding speakers is definitely possible. Visit a car audio specialist to ensure compatibility with your system and get the correct specs such as speaker ratings and impedance (ohms). They can handle any wiring or modifications needed for a proper installation

That's odd about the 500e only having four speakers! It does seem like it should have rear speakers. Whether you can add them depends on a few things. Sometimes, cars are pre-wired for rear speakers even if they aren't installed in certain trims, which makes adding them relatively easy. Other times, you'd need to run new wiring, which is more complicated.

Check if the car's head unit has the necessary outputs and settings to support rear speakers. Your friend could consult a car audio specialist or let's see if someone might have already done this upgrade and can offer advice.
