I’m hitting a major snag with my 2017 500e. It’s flat-out refusing to start, and the dealer says I need a new HV battery. But here’s the kicker: Fiat Engineering won’t approve the battery swap until I replace the Power Inverter Module (PIM) first. We’re talking $17,000+ for both the part and the labor. Crazy right? Plus, I haven’t even gotten a diagnostic report that proves the PIM is the real culprit, so I’m worried this might be a Stellantis screw-up. Has anyone else run into this, or have advice on how to get Stellantis to own up to this mess?

Challenge their claim! Demand they switch out the PIM but skip messing with the battery. Make a note of the bolts underneath so you can see if they really swapped the battery or not. If the new PIM does the trick, awesome! But if it doesn’t, they need to pop the old PIM back in and sort out the battery swap themselves.

Stellantis's claim that you need a new PIM to get a battery warranty exchange seems pretty dodgy and might be worth a legal challenge. If that's their stance, it basically means the battery warranty is shot, so why should we foot the bill to prove it's valid?

You are the third person I see with this problem. I don't know if there is anything to be done.

Just look at this guy. He tried everything. He asked about every code error. He took his car to different dealerships in the city, and even in another state. No result. His Fiat 500e is still dead.
I hope I don't discourage you...
