I’ve been diving into some diagnostics regarding the Onboard Charger (OBCM) for my Fiat 500e and wanted to share an important finding. It seems that even when plugged in, OBD fault codes don’t always appear as expected.
From what I’ve gathered, many owners experiencing OBCM failures reported that all their fault codes remained clear until the vehicle was plugged into a charger. This was a bit of a surprise to me because I was trying to figure out what was wrong without the car being connected, so I may have missed something.
Connect the car to a power source if you're having problems with the OBCM or trying to figure out why it's not charging. You can then see all the relevant fault codes and get a better idea of what might be wrong.
