Hello, everyone.
Looking for expert advice on a problem with my 2015 Fiat 500e. About three weeks ago, while driving, the car unexpectedly went into low power (turtle mode), forcing me to pull over due to the sudden loss of speed. After a few key turns, everything seemed fine, and I was able to drive it for the next two days without incident.

Then I awoke to the "service electric vehicle system" and "service charging system" notifications. I can't charge the car or even shift into drive or reverse.

Here's what I've tried thus far:

  • Powering on and off multiple times
  • Disconnected the humidity sensor and replaced the 12V battery.
  • Disconnect/reconnect the HV.
  • I used OBDLinkSX to clear the faults (P0ABB, P1A21, P0AA2), but they keep reappearing.
  • I've attached some pictures in case they help, but I'm thinking my next step might be to take it to the dealership (which I've been avoiding).

Has anyone dealt with this before, and do you have any suggestions before I go to the dealership? Thanks in advance for any assistance!

That sounds really frustrating, especially with all the effort you’ve put in already. It’s good that you’ve tried rebooting and messing with the battery. Since the error codes keep coming back, it might be time to visit the dealership, they often have the latest updates and might spot something you haven’t.

it might be worth checking out local Facebook groups for tips from other owners who’ve faced similar issues. Some folks have had luck with independent shops that specialize in EVs. Maybe, look into any recalls or service bulletins for the 500e. I hope your car isn't a lemon. those can sometimes address known problems. Hope you get it sorted out soon dude

So that “turtle mode” means your ride’s got some serious issues, usually tied to the battery or charging setup. Since you’ve already tackled some troubleshooting, additionally, check for any loose connections! Give a good look at those HV and 12V connections, check for any corrosion or if they’re feeling a bit loose, especially around the battery and inverter. See if that helps!

So since your Fiat 500e is throwing a Service Electric Vehicle System alert, you really get to the bottom of it, the best move is to swing by the dealer. They’ve got access to a more advanced diagnostic tools to check everything out properly and provide more specific error codes or insights.

it’s been super frustrating, especially after trying so many things and still getting hit with the same error codes. I might just have to bite the bullet, take it to the dealership. They likely have the latest software updates and tools that I can’t access on my own.

I hadn’t thought about checking local Facebook groups, but that’s a great idea! There’s bound to be other 500e owners who’ve been through something similar. I’ll definitely look into recalls and service bulletins too, just in case this is a known issue.

Fingers crossed it’s not something major, but I’ll keep looking into indie shops as a backup plan.
