My 2013 500e has been giving me some serious grief lately. I’m starting to think it might be time to let it go, piece by piece. I’ve already swapped out the Master Cylinder/ABS unit, but the brakes still feel all kinds of funky, and those pesky ABS/RBS lights just won’t chill out. Plus, I recently had an AC component go kaboom and spray freon everywhere.

Now I’m thinking of selling it for parts - especially those battery modules. I could totally use those for my home PowerWall upgrade and sell the rest. Anyone out there have any experience with parting out a 500e, or know if it’s even worth the hassle?

Have you considered using the wiTECH app? (for the brakes issue)

As for selling the parts... if you are ok with all the hassle, if you have the time and tools, you can try it. I wouldn't do it, haha!

I use a 2016 500e..but I had a similar experience when the brakes started acting up and the ABS lights wouldn’t go off, even after I replaced some parts.

My friend advised that I part it out, and I did, and I must say that was a good decision cause I found that the battery modules were in high demand for home energy projects.

It definitely took some effort, but selling the parts, especially the battery, was worth it. You might find it’s a good way to recoup some costs and upgrade your PowerWall

I think these issues could potentially be resolved. The AC problems seem like they could be fixed with a simple part replacement, along with the condenser and dryer. Just recharge it afterward, and you should be back in action.

Regarding the brakes, it is not uncommon for wheel speed sensors to create problems with the ABS and regen systems. It might be a good idea to replace the entire set of those sensors.

Your 500e is still operational, even if it is a bit uncomfortable right now. I would hate to see you part it out when the repairs could be relatively straightforward. I wish you good luck, though!
