Hello squad!

For two years now, my Mum has had a 2017 500e and so far, she loves it.

Last week she noticed that the 12v was dead, and told me about it, I knew what to do, thanks to the posts on this forum. I jumped it and got it charged. I had a feeling my little sister who sometimes drives it left a phone cord plugged in. Some days ago, the issue happened the second time, but my sister wasn't even around, so definitely not her fault. I repeated the same process and the battery came back up.

I checked around for any cords plugged in, but there was none. I can't seem to figure what is causing the drain. Could it be my mum's driving habit? Anyone with ideas on how what could be the issue here?

Yeah, a parasitic draw is definitely a possibility. I'd recommend testing it with a multimeter like you suggested. If you find a significant draw, start pulling fuses one by one to see if you can isolate the culprit.

I'd double-check with your dealer to see if your vehicle is affected by the U69 recall. It might be related to the battery drain issue, so it's worth looking into.

When you jumped it and it charged up, did it actually start too?

Have you tried using AlfaOBD?

Sometimes, 12V batteries drain fast when there are fault codes that need clearing. Having a good OBD system is super helpful for dealing with those annoying issues that can lead to starting or charging problems.

Something might be wrong with the car's computer, causing the battery to drain. The battery charges whenever the key is turned on, even when the car isn't running.
