Hey everyone, although I have a long story to tell later, right now I really need urgent help removing the key.

My car was jumpstarted by a tow truck to get it into neutral, but now the key is entirely stuck and not moving. I found it this way after reaching the dealership.

Though Fiat claims it also needs PIM repair, they advised me it is a dead battery problem.

Later on I will add further details, but any help on how to get the key would be much appreciated! Thanks so much.

Have you tried to disconnect the battery?
Recharge it using a standard 12V battery charger. Reconnect it and I think the key should be removable again, and the car should at least start up. Try this and let me know if it worked.

Dead battery problem? Strange! How long have you had your vehicle? I wonder what are the most common reasons an EV battery might die unexpectedly?

Thanks ! Yeah, the whole 'dead battery' thing threw me off too. I’ve had the car for a few years now, and it’s been pretty solid until this happened. Definitely not what I was expecting when I got to the dealership. Now I’m starting to wonder what could’ve caused the battery to just die out of the blue—EVs can be a bit unpredictable sometimes, I guess?

I haven’t tried disconnecting the battery yet, but that sounds like a solid plan. I’ll grab a 12V charger and see if that helps get the key unstuck and maybe get the car to start up again. Hopefully, it’s just a simple fix and not something bigger! I’ll let you know how it goes. fingers crossed this works!

I hope 12V charger does the trick for you and gets your car up and running again.
