Hey all, so my 2016 500e has about 20,000 miles and has been running pretty well. Recently, the Service Electric System warning light came on, and I took it to the local dealer, and they found a POA66 code, which means there’s a Hybrid Battery Voltage System Isolation Fault. The dealer wanted me to pay an extra $1,000 on top of the $225 diagnosis fee to investigate further, saying it could be several issues. I am very hesitant to spend more on diagnostics. The battery charges well and holds a good charge, are there any recommendations on what to do, I can't afford to spend a lot on diagnosing.

Ok, so the 500e can give you some annoying false alarms, but if it’s running and charging, a reset of the warnings is usually all you need. Just unplug that tricky sensor by the rearview mirror, disconnect the 12V battery for five minutes with a Crescent wrench, and use a free app to clear the alerts with a cable. It’s really easy - plenty of people with no car skills have done it! Give it a try and see if it works!

Oh, come on! That's way too much just for a diagnosis. It’s crazy how these dealers are totally ripping people off! 😠

Does it charge and drive without any issues? If yes, then you can just try clearing the code using a diagnostic scanner. Don't fall too much on dealer's tactics.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll give that a try and see if it works!

Yes, it charges and drives fine. I'll try clearing the code with a diagnostic scanner. Thanks for the suggestion!
