Just swapped out the master cylinder on my 2014 500e and now I'm in the middle of bleeding the brakes with AlfaOBD. But, ofcourse, I’m running into an error and starting to wonder if anyone’s had luck reflashing their ECU with WiTech. Is it worth diving into the hardware and subscription for this? Totally new to this and kinda freaked out about possibly screwing things up. Got any tips? That’d be great!

Why did you swap it?

If you want to reflash the ECU with WiTech it requires some technical knowledge. I would suggest you find someone who has it. If you want to do it alone, then at least
1. Do some research first;
2. make sure that the compatibility between WiTech hardware and software is compatible with your 2014 500e.
3. If you still want to proceed with the process, at least do a backup of your current settings.

Let me know if it helps.

When bleeding the brakes with AlfaOBD, make sure your battery is charged and the car is in the "run" position. This way you will avoid any communication errors.
Now, if you want to reflash the ECU, you need some damn quality OBD-II cable, because, you know, proper connectivity.

You'll need a laptop, a vehicle-specific Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI), a backup battery, and a subscription to the carmaker's website. The VCI alone may cost more than the dealer charges for an ECM reflash.
