Hi, everyone!
Recently I bought my first electric car. I am new here in this EV space.

Fortunately, I live somewhere where it doesn't rain too much. But I am still being too cautious (in my opinion I am prudent).
I am very cautious with my charger because I created the space for the charging stuff (using a GFCI outlet) in such a way that wouldn't be risky if some rain came. Though, if the rain and the wind work together, there is a little chance that the outlet/surge protector could get splashed.

Because of this little change, I chose to unplug the car and turn off the power switch on the surge protector.

Do you think am I being too cautious? Please note that I don't have to charge every night, because I drive less than 10 miles daily.

I would appreciate some thoughts on this, please!

Haha! You made me chuckle. You are not 'too cautious', sir. You are just prudent, as it is normal. After all, is good. What model did you buy? How do you feel about it?

No need to freak out about any water sneaking in and causing earth leakage! The RCBO's got your back and will shut off the power in a heartbeat if it senses anything off. And don’t worry, the car’s covered too, any sign of earth leakage, and it’ll handle it super quickly.

Thank you guys! In the meantime, I calmed down a bit, and I concluded I was just as I needed to be.

@ChargingSpray90 I went with the Fiat 500e Icon, the 2023 model. It covers most of my driving needs (range up to 150 miles). I love the retro-modern design, and the interior is surprisingly spacious for such a compact car. The tech inside is also impressive. There is a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus some nice safety features. I don't like the color, though. My wife chose it, haha.
