Dead 500e

So my 2016 500e isn't starting, tried testing the 12V battery but it has power. What could be the other cause?

There was a time my 2018 500e wasn't starting either, and I tried testing the 12V battery, which had power. I found out there’s a fuse block under the hood. Do you have power in the interior fuse panel? The fuses could be fine, but if the panel itself doesn’t have power, it won’t matter, and since you mentioned the 12V seems good, but the car still won’t start, you can also check under the hood for any blown fuse.

So, do you want to know why the battery isn't starting or how to fix it? I mean, I don't think it is relevant to the cause in such a case. Dead battery. In the worst case, it needs replacement.

A 2016 500e not starting even with a good 12V battery is weird. Since the battery isn't the issue, it could be a few other things. Check the obvious stuff first, like making sure the car is in Park (or Neutral if it's a manual) and that the key fob is working and recognized by the car. Beyond that, it could be a problem with the starter motor itself, a faulty ignition switch, or even a problem with the wiring or fuses related to the starting system. There might also be an issue with the car's computer or immobilizer system if it's not recognizing your key. Since it's an electric car, there's also the possibility of a problem with the high-voltage battery or its connection to the rest of the system. It's probably best to have a mechanic or an EV specialist take a look, as diagnosing electrical issues can be tricky.
