Hi! I am looking for some clarification on EV battery warranties in the US. Does anyone know what the standard warranty policy is in the US regarding battery capacity? Specifically, is there a clear definition of what percentage drop in battery capacity is covered under the warranty? Thanks!

Battery warranties vary by car company. Check your owner's manual or call your dealer to see what's covered. Some battery loss is normal. As long as the battery can still drive a good distance, you're probably okay.

Most EV battery warranties in the U.S. cover at least 8 years or 100,000 miles, as required by law.
When it comes to capacity, Tesla, Nissan, and Hyundai (and probably other automakers) guarantee the battery will retain at least 70% of its original capacity during that period.
But I think the policies differ from brand to brand. I hope this answers your question.

Thank you, sir! I appreciate it.

I've read that in the US, most EV manufacturers offer a battery warranty that lasts between 8 to 10 years, or around 100,000 to 150,000 miles. The coverage typicaly includes a significant drop in battery capacity usually around 30% or more. However exact terms can vary by manufacturer

Yeah, that makes sense! It’s good to know most EVs have those solid warranties. It’s nice that companies like Tesla, Nissan, and Hyundai are backing up the battery life too. Definitely good info to keep in mind. Appreciate the breakdown!
